The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.1.121; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

यथा श्री-दशमे (१०.१६.३३) —
न्याय्यो हि दण्डः कृत-किल्बिषे’स्मिंस्
तवावतारः खल-निग्रहाय ।
रिपोः सुतानाम् अपि तुल्य-दृष्टेर्
धत्से दमं फलम् एवानुशंसन् ॥२.१.१२१॥yathā śrī-daśame (10.16.33) —
nyāyyo hi daṇḍaḥ kṛta-kilbiṣe’smiṃs
tavāvatāraḥ khala-nigrahāya |
ripoḥ sutānām api tulya-dṛṣṭer
dhatse damaṃ phalam evānuśaṃsan ||2.1.121||
English translation
An example from the Tenth Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam [10.16.33]:
“The wives of the Kāliya serpent said: The punishment this offender has been subjected to is certainly just. After all, You have incarnated within this world to curb down envious and cruel persons. You are so impartial that You look equally upon Your enemies and Your own sons, for when You impose a punishment on a living being You know it to be for his ultimate benefit.”
