The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 1.3.9 ; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation:

तत्र आद्यो (१.५.२६) —
तत्रान्वहं कृष्ण-कथाः प्रगायताम्
अनुग्रहेणाशृणवं मनोहराः ।
ताः श्रद्धया मे’नुपदं विशृण्वतः
प्रिय-श्रवस्य् अङ्ग ममाभवद् रतिः ॥१.३.९ ॥

tatra ādyo (1.5.26) —
tatrānvahaṃ kṛṣṇa-kathāḥ pragāyatām
anugraheṇāśṛṇavaṃ manoharāḥ |
tāḥ śraddhayā me’nupadaṃ viśṛṇvataḥ
priya-śravasy aṅga mamābhavad ratiḥ
||1.3.9 ||

English translation

Bhāva arising from vaidhī-bhakti-sādhana is illustrated in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam [1.5.26]:
“O Vyāsadeva, in that association and by the mercy of those great Vedāntists, I could hear them describe the activities of Lord Kṛṣṇa. These became very attractive (ruci), my taste for hearing of the Personality of Godhead increased at every step. Thus listening attentively (āsakti), rati for the Supreme Personality of Godhead appeared.”
