The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 1.2.259 ; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation:

धन-शिष्यादिभिर् द्वारैर् या भक्तिर् उपपाद्यते ।
विदूरत्वाद् उत्तमता-हान्या तस्याश् च नाङ्गता ॥१.२.२५९ ॥

dhana-śiṣyādibhir dvārair yā bhaktir upapādyate |
vidūratvād uttamatā-hānyā tasyāś ca nāṅgatā ||1.2.259 ||

English translation

Bhakti that is accomplished by dependence on wealth, followers or other objects cannot be considered as an aṅga of uttama-bhakti because it destroys the pure nature of uttama-bhakti. It is situated far away from uttama-bhakti.”
