हरि-भक्ति-सुधोदये च —
यस्य यत्-सङ्गतिः पुंसो
मणिवत् स्यात् स तद्-गुणः ।
स्व-कूलर्द्ध्यै ततो धीमान्
स्व-यूथ्यान् एव संश्रयेत् ॥१.२.२२९ ॥

hari-bhakti-sudhodaye ca —
yasya yat-saṅgatiḥ puṃso
maṇivat syāt sa tad-guṇaḥ |
sva-kūlarddhyai tato dhīmān
sva-yūthyān eva saṃśrayet ||1.2.229 ||

English translation

इत् इस् अल्सो सैद् इन् थे हरि-भक्ति-सुधोदय:
“अ मन् wइल्ल् अत्तैन् थे qउअलितिएस् ओf थे पेर्सोन् wइथ् wहोम् हे अस्सोचिअतेस्, जुस्त् अस् अ च्र्य्स्तल् तकेस् उप् थे चोलोर् ओf थे ओब्जेच्त् नेxत् तो इत्. थेरेfओरे, थे wइसे मन् wइल्ल् तके स्हेल्तेर् ओf थोसे wहो हवे qउअलितिएस् सिमिलर् तो हिस् ओwन् fओर् थे प्रोस्पेरित्य् ओf हिस् fअमिल्य्.”

६३ — अथ श्री-नाम संकीर्तनं, यथा द्वितीये(२.१.११) —
एतन् निर्विद्यमानानाम् इच्छताम् अकुतो-भयम् ।
योगिनां नृप निर्णीतं हरेर् नामानुकीर्तनं ॥१.२.२३०॥

It is also said in the Hari-bhakti-sudhodaya:
“A man will attain the qualities of the person with whom he associates, just as a crystal takes up the color of the object next to it. Therefore, the wise man will take shelter of those who have qualities similar to his own for the prosperity of his family.”

63 — atha śrī-nāma saṃkīrtanaṃ, yathā dvitīye(2.1.11) —
etan nirvidyamānānām icchatām akuto-bhayam |
yogināṃ nṛpa nirṇītaṃ harer nāmānukīrtanaṃ ||1.2.230||

English translation

Chanting the Holy Name of the Lord, from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam [2.1.11]:
“O King, constant chanting of the Holy Name of the Lord after the ways of the great authorities is the doubtless and fearless way of success for all, including those who are free from all material desires, those who are desirous of all material enjoyment, and also those who are self-satisfied by dint of transcendental knowledge.”
