The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 1.2.189 ; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation:

तत्र आद्यं, यथा महाभारते —
प्रतिज्ञा तव गोविन्द न मे भक्तः प्रणश्यति ।
इति संस्मृत्य संस्मृत्य प्राणान् संधारयाम्य् अहम् ॥१.२.१८९ ॥

tatra ādyaṃ, yathā mahābhārate —
pratijñā tava govinda na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati |
iti saṃsmṛtya saṃsmṛtya prāṇān saṃdhārayāmy aham
||1.2.189 ||

English translation

The first type, trust, is described in Mahābhārata:
“O Govinda, remembering again and again Your promise that Your devotee will never perish, I maintain my life.”
