The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 1.2.108; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

८ - यावद्-अर्थानुवर्तिता, यथा नारदीये —
यावता स्यात् स्व-निर्वाहः स्वीकुर्यात् तावद् अर्थ-वित् ।
आधिक्ये न्यूनतायां च च्यवते परमार्थतः ॥१.२.१०८॥

8 - yāvad-arthānuvartitā, yathā nāradīye —
yāvatā syāt sva-nirvāhaḥ svīkuryāt tāvad artha-vit |
ādhikye nyūnatāyāṃ ca cyavate paramārthataḥ
||1.2.108||

English translation

Living with minimal material needs, from the Nāradīya Purāṇa:
“The person with wisdom concerning material objects accepts as much as is necessary for the maintenance of bhakti. By accepting more or less than that, the person will fail to attain the highest goal.”
