The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 1.2.101; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

ब्रह्म-यामले च —
श्रुति-स्मृति-पुराणादि-पञ्चरात्र-विधिं विना ।
ऐकान्तिकी हरेर् भक्तिर् उत्पातायैव कल्पते ॥१.२.१०१॥

brahma-yāmale ca —
śruti-smṛti-purāṇādi-pañcarātra-vidhiṃ vinā |
aikāntikī harer bhaktir utpātāyaiva kalpate
||1.2.101||

English translation

Also, evidence from the Brahma-yāmala:
“Even if a person seems to have attained steadiness in practicing pure bhakti to the Lord, that bhakti is a misfortune if it rejects the rules of śruti, smṛti, purāṇa and pañcarātra due to lack of faith in them.”
