The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 1.2.100; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. ४ - साधु-वर्त्मानुवर्तनम्, यथा स्कान्दे—
स मृग्यः श्रेयसां हेतुः पन्थाः सन्ताप-वर्जितः ।
अन्वाप्त-श्रमं पूर्वे येन सन्तः प्रतस्थिरे ॥१.२.१००॥4 - sādhu-vartmānuvartanam, yathā skānde—
sa mṛgyaḥ śreyasāṃ hetuḥ panthāḥ santāpa-varjitaḥ |
anvāpta-śramaṃ pūrve yena santaḥ pratasthire ||1.2.100||
English translation
Following the scriptural rules, from the Skanda Purāṇa:
“One should follow the scriptural rules which give the highest benefit and are devoid of hardship, by which the previous devotees easily progressed.”
