Verse 18.31

यया धर्मम् अधर्मं च कार्यं चाकार्यम् एव च ।
अयथावत् प्रजानाति बुद्धिः सा पार्थ राजसी ॥ ३१ ॥

yayā dharmam adharmaṃ ca kāryaṃ cākāryam eva ca |
ayathāvat prajānāti buddhiḥ sā pārtha rājasī || 31 ||

yayā–by which; dharmam–virtue; adharmam–vice; ca–and; kāryam–that which is to be done‚ duty; ca–and; akāryam–that which is not to be done; eva–certainly; ca–and; ayathāvat–incorrectly; prajānāti–one discerns; buddhiḥ–intelligence; sā–that; pārtha–O son of Pṛthā; rājasī–governed by the quality of passion.

O Pārtha, a person’s intelligence is known to be covered by the quality of passion when he distinguishes incorrectly between religion and irreligion and between what is to be done and what is not to be done.
