The Bhagavad-gita Verse 18.19, English translation, including the Vaishnava commentaries Sarartha-varsini-tika, Prakashika-vritti and Rasika-ranjana (excerpts). This is verse Verse 18.19 from the chapter 18 called “Moksha-yoga (the Yoga of Liberation)”

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 18.19:

ज्ञानं कर्म च कर्ता च त्रिधैव गुण-भेदतः ।
प्रोच्यते गुण-सङ्ख्याने यथावच् छृणु तान्य् अपि ॥ १९ ॥

jñānaṃ karma ca kartā ca tridhaiva guṇa-bhedataḥ |
procyate guṇa-saṅkhyāne yathāvac chṛṇu tāny api
|| 19 ||

jñānam–knowledge; karma–action; ca–and; kartā–the agent; ca–and; tridhā–threefold; eva–certainly; guṇa-bhedataḥ–according to the divisions of the three material qualities; procyate–are declared to be; guṇa-saṅkhyāne–in the scriptures which analytically describe the three qualities of material nature; yathāvat–as they are; śṛṇu–you should hear; tāni–of these; api–also.

The scriptures that analytically discuss the three qualities of nature also say that knowledge, action and the performer of action are governed by the qualities of goodness, passion and ignorance. Now hear from Me about the factual condition of these modes.
