The Sanskrit text of the Satapatha-brahmana: One of the largest works in the category of Vedic (Brahmaic) literature, narrating in extensive detail the various rites, constructions, chants and utensils to be used in Hindu ceremonies. sa hovācāruṇamaupaveśiṃ gautama kaṃ tvaṃ vaiśvānaraṃ vettheti pṛthivīmeva rājanniti hovācomiti hovācaiṣa vai vaiśvānara etaṃ hi vai tvam pratiṣṭhāṃ vaiśvānaraṃ vettha tasmāttvam pratiṣṭhitaḥ prajayā paśubhirasi yo etam pratiṣṭhāṃ vaiśvānaraṃ vedāpa punarmṛtyuh+ jayati sarvamāyureti pādau tvā etau vaiśvānarasya pādau te'mlāsyatāṃ yadi ha nāgamiṣya iti pādau te'viditāvabhaviṣyatāṃ yadi ha nāgamiṣya iti

He then said to Aruna Aupaveshi, “O Gautama, as whom knowest thou Vaishvanara?”—“As Earth only, O king;” he replied.—“Yea,” he said, “that indeed is Vaishvanara, the foundation; and because thou knowest the Vaishvanara Foundation (pratishtha) therefore thou art firmly established (pratishthita) with offspring and cattle; and, verily, he who knows that Vaishvanara Foundation, repels Death and attains all life. But, in truth, these are only the feet of Vaishvanara, and thy feet would have withered away, hadst thou not come hither; or the feet would be unknown to thee, hadst thou not come hither.”
