tasya cakṣurvaiśvavyacasamiti | cakṣustasmādrūpādādityānniramimīta varṣāścākṣuṣya iti varṣā ṛtuṃ cakṣuṣo niramimīta jagatī vārṣīti jagatīṃ cando varṣābhya ṛtorniramimīta jagatyā ṛkṣamamiti jagatyai candasa ṛkṣamaṃ sāma niramimīta'rkṣamācukra ityṛkṣamātsāmnaḥ śukraṃ grahaṃ niramimīta śukrātsaptadaśa iti śukrādgrahātsaptadaśaṃ stomaṃ niramimīta saptadaśādvairūpamiti saptadaśātstomādvairūpam pṛṣṭhaṃ niramimīta

2. “His, the all-embracer’s child, the Eye,”—from out of that (all-embracing) form, the Sun, he fashioned the eye;—“the rains, the offspring of the eye,”—from out of the eye he fashioned the rainy season;—“the Jagati, the daughter of the rains,”—from out of the rainy season he fashioned the Jagati metre;—“from the Jagati the Riksama,”—from out of the Jagati metre he fashioned the Riksama hymn-tune;—“from the Riksama the Shukra,”—from out of the Riksama-saman he fashioned the Shukra-graha;—“from the Shukra the Saptadasha,”—from out of the Shukra cup he fashioned the seventeen-versed hymn-form;—“from the Saptadasha the Vairupa,”—from out of the Saptadasha-stoma he fashioned the Vairupa-prishtha.
