द्रव्य-देशात्मनां नित्यं अशुद्धत्वात् कलौ युगे
न कर्म-फल-दं किञ्चिद् इत्य् आहुश् च मनीषिणः

dravya-deśātmanāṃ nityaṃ aśuddhatvāt kalau yuge
na karma-phala-daṃ kiñcid ity āhuś ca manīṣiṇaḥ

English translation of verse:

Because in Kali-yuga objects, places, and people are all impure, one cannot easily attain the results of performing pious deeds. That is what the wise have said.
