साधर्म्य-गता न्यूनता न्यून-पदता. अधिकता त्व् अधिक-पदतैव। क्रमेणोदाहरणम्,

sādharmya-gatā nyūnatā nyūna-padatā. adhikatā tv adhika-padataiva. krameṇodāharaṇam,

Inadequacy regarding a common attribute is the same as the fault called nyūna-pada (missing word) (7.60). Excessiveness in a common attribute is the same as the fault called adhika-pada (superfluous word) (7.60). Examples are shown in order.

rādhayāliṅgitaḥ kṛṣṇas tāra-hāra-dyutiṃ dadhat |
vidyutālaṅkṛto nīla-balāhaka ivāvabhau ||

Kṛṣṇa, who assumed the splendor of an excellent pearl necklace, was embraced by Rādhā. He was resplendent like a monsoon cloud adorned with lightning.

atra balāhakasya sa-balākatvānukter nyūna-padatā.

The fault called nyūna-pada occurs here because there is no mention that the cloud has a series of cranes. (A series of cranes corresponds to the pearl necklace.)
