tathā hi, vaiphalya-prasiddhy-abhāva-vṛtty-ayogyatā anuprāse doṣāḥ. te kramād apuṣṭārthatva-prasiddhi-virodha-pratikūla-varṇatva-rūpās tat-svābhāvyāt.

The details are as follows. The defects in anuprāsa (alliteration) are: (1) vaiphalya (uselessness), (2) prasiddhi-abhāva (absence of convention), and (3) vṛtti-ayogyatā (unsuitability of the mode of alliteration). They are forms of apuṣṭārtha (irrelevant) (7.85), prasiddhi-virodha (contrary to what is well known) (7.93), and pratikūla-varṇa (adverse phonemes) (7.53), respectively, since they have the same natures. Examples are shown in order.
