Text 10.254
यत्र तु न्याय-दोषयोर् एकतरस्योपलम्भस् तत्र न सः. यथा,
yatra tu nyāya-doṣayor ekatarasyopalambhas tatra na saḥ. yathā,
However, there is no aniścaya-saṅkara when something either favors one particular ornament or blocks the others. For instance:
viracitābhayaṃ vṛṣṇi-dhurya te caraṇam īyuṣāṃ saṃsṛter bhayāt |
kara-saroruhaṃ kānta kāma-daṃ śirasi dhehi naḥ śrī-kara-graham ||
O leader of the Vṛṣṇis, Your lotus-like hand bestows fearlessness to those who approach Your feet out of fear of material life. Sweetheart, kindly place it on our heads. It ends the torment inflicted by Cupid and it held Lakṣmī’s hand. (Bhāgavatam 10.31.5)
atra śrī-kara-grahaṇaṃ karasyaiva sambhaved ity upamāyāḥ sādhakam.
Holding Lakṣmī’s hand can only be done by a hand (not by a lotus), therefore this effects an upamā (simile) (lotus-like hand).
