37. Parikara

विशेषणैर् यत् साकूतैर् उक्तिः परिकरस् तु सः ॥ १०.११८ab ॥

viśeṣaṇair yat sākūtair uktiḥ parikaras tu saḥ || 10.118ab ||

viśeṣaṇaiḥ—with adjectives; yat—if (yat = yadi); sa-ākūtaiḥ—which are significant (“they have an intention (a purpose)”); uktiḥ—the mention [of a noun[1] ]; parikaraḥ—the ornament called parikara; tu—(used to express a new beginning); saḥ—that.

If there is a mention of a noun along with many significant adjectives, that is parikara (the assistants).

sābhiprāyāneka-viśeṣaṇa-dvārā viśeṣyasya puṣṭiḥ parikaraḥ.

Parikara is the enhancement of a noun by means of purposeful adjectives (especially adjectival compounds).
