श्रौता आर्थाश् च ते यस्मिन्न् एक-देश-विवर्ति तत् ॥ १०.९४ab ॥
śrautā ārthāś ca te yasminn eka-deśa-vivarti tat || 10.94ab ||
śrautāḥ—stated (“born from the sounds”); ārthāḥ—understood (not stated) (“born from the meanings”); ca—and; te—those ones (the upamānas) (the antecedent is āropitāḥ in the previous sūtra); yasmin—in which; eka-deśa-vivarti—the rūpaka called eka-deśa-vivarti (“it exists in a special way in one place”); tat—that.
When some upamānas are stated and one upamāna is not stated, that is eka-deśa-vivarti-rūpaka (partial overall metaphor).
āropyamāṇāḥ kecic chabdāḥ[1] kecit tv ārthāś cet tadaika-deśa-vivarti-rūpakam.
If some upamānas are mentioned and some upamāna is implied, that is the rūpaka called eka-deśa-vivarti.
