वाच्ये गम्ये च सा साम्ये एकदेश-विवर्तिनी ॥

vācye gamye ca sā sāmye ekadeśa-vivartinī ||

When a similarity is stated in one place and implied in another, that is eka-deśa-vivartinī upamā (partial overall simile).

Commentary:

This is marked as a sūtra in all editions of Sāhitya-kaumudī. Here Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa incorporates the topic of “eka-deśa-vivartinī upamā” from Sāhitya-darpaṇa (10.24-25).
