स्थायिनो यथा,

sthāyino yathā,

(3) This shows the fault of mentioning a sthāyi-bhāva by name:

candanānila-candrāṃśu-puṃs-kokila-kala-svanaiḥ |
mādhavyāṃ rajanau rādhā-kṛṣṇayo ratir aidhata ||

On springtime nights, Rādhā’s love and Kṛṣṇa’s love blazed due to the breeze from sandalwood trees; due to moonrays; and due to the sweet chirping of male cuckoos. (Alaṅkāra-kaustubha 10.129)

atra rati-śabdaḥ. sthāyitvāpratītau tu na doṣāya. yathā, bhagavati ratir astu me mumūrṣoḥ ity-ādi.

Here the word rati (love) is faulty (Kavikarṇapūra corrects the verse by changing rati to prīti, love). However, the word rati is not faulty when there is no perception of it as a sthāyi-bhāva. For instance: bhagavati ratir astu me mumūrṣoḥ, “May I, who seek liberation, have affection for the Lord” (Bhāgavatam 1.9.39).
