अविशेष-परिवृत्तोऽविशेषे स-विशेषः. यथा, ददाति निज-भक्तेभ्यो रत्नानि मधुसूदनः. अत्र सर्वं ददातीत्य् अविशेषो वाच्यः.

aviśeṣa-parivṛtto'viśeṣe sa-viśeṣaḥ. yathā, dadāti nija-bhaktebhyo ratnāni madhusūdanaḥ. atra sarvaṃ dadātīty aviśeṣo vācyaḥ.

(15) The fault named aviśeṣa-parivṛtta (too particular) means aviśeṣe sa-viśeṣa (a particularity when a generality should be made). For instance: “Madhusūdana gives gems to His devotees.” Here a nonspecific meaning should have been stated instead: “Madhusūdana gives everything to His devotees.”
