[This is another example of vidyā-viruddha (contrary to book knowledge):]

अधरे मृग-शावाक्षी बिभ्रति करज-क्षतम् |
कण्ठे ताम्बूल-रागं च शुशुभे प्रिय-सन्निधौ ||

adhare mṛga-śāvākṣī bibhrati karaja-kṣatam |
kaṇṭhe tāmbūla-rāgaṃ ca śuśubhe priya-sannidhau ||

The fawn-eyed girl had nail marks on the lips and a betelnut-like red color on the neck. She was resplendent in the presence of her beloved. (adapted from Sāhitya-darpaṇa 7.12)

etat kāma-śāstreṇa. evaṃ śāstrāntarair bodhyam.

Here the meanings are contrary to the information found in manuals on lust (kāma-śāstra). Other instances can be understood in the same way with regard to other kinds of books.
