विद्या शास्त्रं तद्-विरुद्धो यथा, सदा स्नात्वा निशीथिन्यामयं जपति पण्डितः. अत्र ग्रहोपरागं विनार्ध-रात्र-स्नानं धर्म-शास्त्रेण विरुद्धम्.

vidyā śāstraṃ tad-viruddho yathā, sadā snātvā niśīthinyāmayaṃ japati paṇḍitaḥ. atra grahoparāgaṃ vinārdha-rātra-snānaṃ dharma-śāstreṇa viruddham.

(10) The term vidyā-viruddha means “contrary to book knowledge.” For instance: “This scholar always does japa after bathing at night” (adapted from Kāvya-prakāśa, verse 237). The fault occurs here because bathing in the middle of the night is contrary to books on moral conduct. The exception is bathing during either a solar eclipse or a lunar eclipse.
