यथा वा,
yathā vā,
This is another example of ardhāntara eka-vācaka (one word placed in the wrong half of the verse):
kim ayaṃ vidhur ābhāti kiṃ caitad vadanaṃ nu kim |
madira-dvitayaṃ kiṃ vā citre te nayana-dvayam ||
kim—whether; ayam—this; vidhuḥ—the moon; ābhāti—shines; kim—whether; ca—or; etat—this; vadanam—a face; nu—indeed; kim—whether; madira—of liquor (madirā); dvitayam—a pair; kim—whether; vā—or else; citre—O amazing girl; te—your; nayana-dvayam—pair of eyes.
Is this the shining moon or is it your face? O amazing girl, is this a pair of wagtail birds or is it your two eyes?
atra parārdhasyaikaṃ kim iti vācakaṃ padaṃ pūrvārdhānte.
Here the word kim at the end of the first half of the verse belongs to the second half.
