मानं मुञ्च हि वामाङ्गि प्रसादं कुरु देवि च। अत्र हि-च-शब्दौ वृत्त-पूर्ति-मात्र-कारित्वान् निरर्थकौ।

mānaṃ muñca hi vāmāṅgi prasādaṃ kuru devi ca. atra hi-ca-śabdau vṛtta-pūrti-mātra-kāritvān nirarthakau.

(7) This illustrates the fault called nirarthaka (meaningless): mānaṃ muñca hi vāmāṅgi prasādaṃ kuru devi ca, “Young woman with a beautiful body, let go of your pique and be gracious.” Here the words hi and ca are used only to fill the meter, therefore each one of those two words is meaningless.
