Text 2.39
एवं व्यञ्जनां निरूप्य तद्-आश्रयम् आह,
evaṃ vyañjanāṃ nirūpya tad-āśrayam āha,
After discoursing on Suggestiveness in this way, he mentions its basis (the means of communication):
tad-yukto vyañjakaḥ śabdaḥ ||2.20a||
tat-yuktaḥ—endowed with it (vyañjanā); vyañjakaḥ—suggestive; śabdaḥ—a word.
A suggestive word is that which is endowed with it.
tayā vyañjanayā yuktaḥ śabdo vyañjaka ucyate.
A word endowed with Suggestiveness is called a suggestive word.
