यो य॒ज्ञो वि॒श्वत॒स्तन्तु॑भिस्त॒त एक॑शतं देवक॒र्मेभि॒राय॑तः । इ॒मे व॑यन्ति पि॒तरो॒ य आ॑य॒युः प्र व॒याप॑ व॒येत्या॑सते त॒ते ॥
यो यज्ञो विश्वतस्तन्तुभिस्तत एकशतं देवकर्मेभिरायतः । इमे वयन्ति पितरो य आययुः प्र वयाप वयेत्यासते तते ॥
yo yajño viśvatas tantubhis tata ekaśataṃ devakarmebhir āyataḥ | ime vayanti pitaro ya āyayuḥ pra vayāpa vayety āsate tate ||
English translation:
“The sacrifice which is extended on every side by the threads (of created things) spread out by theworship of the gods for a hundred and one (years), these our progenitors, who have preceded us, weave it,weaving forwards, weaving backwards, they worship (Prajāpati) when (the world) is woven.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Weaving forwards:by combining the superior and inferior weaving, i.e., the intellectual and unintellectual, the enjoyer and theenjoyable, animate and inanimate existence. "Saying, 'weave forwards, weave backwards';
