आ॒विर॑भू॒न्महि॒ माघो॑नमेषां॒ विश्वं॑ जी॒वं तम॑सो॒ निर॑मोचि । महि॒ ज्योति॑: पि॒तृभि॑र्द॒त्तमागा॑दु॒रुः पन्था॒ दक्षि॑णाया अदर्शि ॥
आविरभून्महि माघोनमेषां विश्वं जीवं तमसो निरमोचि । महि ज्योतिः पितृभिर्दत्तमागादुरुः पन्था दक्षिणाया अदर्शि ॥
āvir abhūn mahi māghonam eṣāṃ viśvaṃ jīvaṃ tamaso nir amoci | mahi jyotiḥ pitṛbhir dattam āgād uruḥ panthā dakṣiṇāyā adarśi ||
English translation:
“The great (splendour) of Maghavan has becomemanifest (for the rites) of these (worshippers); all lifehas been extricated from darkness, the vast light bestowed by the progenitors has arrived, a spacious path forthe dakṣiṇā has been displayed. (I Maghavan: Mqaghavan = the sun, at whose rising and at midday thedakṣiṇā is to be given, not at sunset; cf. RV. 5.77.2].”
