Rig Veda 10.105.1
Sanskrit text [Accents, Plain, Transliterated]:
क॒दा व॑सो स्तो॒त्रं हर्य॑त॒ आव॑ श्म॒शा रु॑ध॒द्वाः । दी॒र्घं सु॒तं वा॒ताप्या॑य ॥
कदा वसो स्तोत्रं हर्यत आव श्मशा रुधद्वाः । दीर्घं सुतं वाताप्याय ॥
kadā vaso stotraṃ haryata āva śmaśā rudhad vāḥ | dīrghaṃ sutaṃ vātāpyāya ||
English translation:
“When, Vasu, (will our) praise (reach) you desiring it? (when) will he, (like) a dam, obstruct and letloose the long-protracted for the sake of wind- driven (rain)?”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Although the worship of Indra may be impeded bydelay, as water is checked by an embankment (śamaśā = kulyā), yet it will take effect ultimately, and thewater or the rain will spread abroad; cf. Nirukta 5.12
