ते हि प्र॒जाया॒ अभ॑रन्त॒ वि श्रवो॒ बृह॒स्पति॑र्वृष॒भः सोम॑जामयः । य॒ज्ञैरथ॑र्वा प्रथ॒मो वि धा॑रयद्दे॒वा दक्षै॒र्भृग॑व॒: सं चि॑कित्रिरे ॥
ते हि प्रजाया अभरन्त वि श्रवो बृहस्पतिर्वृषभः सोमजामयः । यज्ञैरथर्वा प्रथमो वि धारयद्देवा दक्षैर्भृगवः सं चिकित्रिरे ॥
te hi prajāyā abharanta vi śravo bṛhaspatir vṛṣabhaḥ somajāmayaḥ | yajñair atharvā prathamo vi dhārayad devā dakṣair bhṛgavaḥ saṃ cikitrire ||
English translation:
“Inasmuch as Bṛhaspati, the showerer (of benefits) and the kindred of Soma (the Visvedevās),bestow food (for the support) of people, Atharvan was the first to invigorate (the gods) with sacrifices; withstrength the gods and Bhṛgus discovered (the cattle).”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
With strength: i.e., with the strength acquired from thesacrifice which they had eaten; having gone to the sacrifice made by Atharvan, they discovered the cattle; cf. RV1.83.5
