वि॒भिद्या॒ पुरं॑ श॒यथे॒मपा॑चीं॒ निस्त्रीणि॑ सा॒कमु॑द॒धेर॑कृन्तत् । बृह॒स्पति॑रु॒षसं॒ सूर्यं॒ गाम॒र्कं वि॑वेद स्त॒नय॑न्निव॒ द्यौः ॥
विभिद्या पुरं शयथेमपाचीं निस्त्रीणि साकमुदधेरकृन्तत् । बृहस्पतिरुषसं सूर्यं गामर्कं विवेद स्तनयन्निव द्यौः ॥
vibhidyā puraṃ śayathem apācīṃ nis trīṇi sākam udadher akṛntat | bṛhaspatir uṣasaṃ sūryaṃ gām arkaṃ viveda stanayann iva dyauḥ ||
English translation:
“Resting near it, demolishing the western city, Bṛhaspati wrested at once from Vala the three, thedawn, the sun, the cow; thundering like the heaven, he proclaimed the adorable (Sun).”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Vala: liṭ, the ocean, i.e.Vala in the form of a cloud; dawn, sun, cow: Bṛhaspati begetting the son, which comes into being after the timeof dawn, brought the cattle out from the folds enveloped in darkness
