दृ॒शा॒नो रु॒क्म उ॑र्वि॒या व्य॑द्यौद्दु॒र्मर्ष॒मायु॑: श्रि॒ये रु॑चा॒नः । अ॒ग्निर॒मृतो॑ अभव॒द्वयो॑भि॒र्यदे॑नं॒ द्यौर्ज॒नय॑त्सु॒रेता॑: ॥
दृशानो रुक्म उर्विया व्यद्यौद्दुर्मर्षमायुः श्रिये रुचानः । अग्निरमृतो अभवद्वयोभिर्यदेनं द्यौर्जनयत्सुरेताः ॥
dṛśāno rukma urviyā vy adyaud durmarṣam āyuḥ śriye rucānaḥ | agnir amṛto abhavad vayobhir yad enaṃ dyaur janayat suretāḥ ||
English translation:
“Conspicuous, glorious, Agni shines with great splendour, moving everywhere, and blazingunsurpassingly with glory; Agni became immortal through the food (of sacrifice) when the prolific heavenengendered him.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Glorious: dṛśāno rukmaḥ = rocamānaḥ, an epithet of Agni; or devatā, a gold ornament ofthe neck, which at a particular time the yajamāna is to take off with this mantra; moving everywhere: āyuḥ =going everywhere; or, life: desiring an irreproachable life to give perpetually to people
