आपो॒ हि ष्ठा म॑यो॒भुव॒स्ता न॑ ऊ॒र्जे द॑धातन । म॒हे रणा॑य॒ चक्ष॑से ॥
आपो हि ष्ठा मयोभुवस्ता न ऊर्जे दधातन । महे रणाय चक्षसे ॥
āpo hi ṣṭhā mayobhuvas tā na ūrje dadhātana | mahe raṇāya cakṣase ||
English translation:
“Since, waters, you are the sources of happiness, grant to us to enjoy abundance, and great anddelightful perception.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Great and delightful perception: mahe raṇāya cakṣase = samyajñānam, perfectknowledge of brahman; the ṛca solicits happiness both in this world and in the next; the rapturous sight of thesupreme god; to behold great joy
