Rig Veda 8.72.4

Sanskrit text [Accents, Plain, Transliterated]:

जा॒म्य॑तीतपे॒ धनु॑र्वयो॒धा अ॑रुह॒द्वन॑म् । दृ॒षदं॑ जि॒ह्वयाव॑धीत् ॥
जाम्यतीतपे धनुर्वयोधा अरुहद्वनम् । दृषदं जिह्वयावधीत् ॥
jāmy atītape dhanur vayodhā aruhad vanam | dṛṣadaṃ jihvayāvadhīt ||

English translation:

“(Agni), the giver of food, scorches the vast bow (Of the sky); he mounts the water; he smites the cloudwith his tongue.”

Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya

With his tongue: jāmi = pravṛddham, sarvam atiricya vartamānam; his own; may be areference to a forest conflagration; he mounts the forest, he smites the rock (dṛṣadam) with his tongue
