Rig Veda 8.71.2

न॒हि म॒न्युः पौरु॑षेय॒ ईशे॒ हि व॑: प्रियजात । त्वमिद॑सि॒ क्षपा॑वान् ॥
नहि मन्युः पौरुषेय ईशे हि वः प्रियजात । त्वमिदसि क्षपावान् ॥
nahi manyuḥ pauruṣeya īśe hi vaḥ priyajāta | tvam id asi kṣapāvān ||
English translation:
“O you who was born loved, no human anger can hrm you-- you only are the lord of night.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
We willprotect you from men by day, and you will protect yourself by night from evil spirits, as fire then burns brightest
