Rig Veda 8.24.30

यत्त्वा॑ पृ॒च्छादी॑जा॒नः कु॑ह॒या कु॑हयाकृते । ए॒षो अप॑श्रितो व॒लो गो॑म॒तीमव॑ तिष्ठति ॥
यत्त्वा पृच्छादीजानः कुहया कुहयाकृते । एषो अपश्रितो वलो गोमतीमव तिष्ठति ॥
yat tvā pṛcchād ījānaḥ kuhayā kuhayākṛte | eṣo apaśrito valo gomatīm ava tiṣṭhati ||
English translation:
“If any ask of you, (Uṣas), when anywhere present, where the sacrificer (Varu dwells), (reply) thepowerful (prince), the refuge of all, abides on (the banks of) the Gomatī river.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Ask of you: kuhayākṛte = oḥ,you who are honoured by those who ask where Varu wells, sa varuḥ kutra tiṣṭhattyetad icchayābhilakṣaṇapravṛttair jijñāsubhiḥ puraskṛte (uṣas);
Valaḥ = varaḥ, svabalena avārakaḥ śatrūṇām, overwhelmer ofenemies
