Rig Veda 8.23.12

Sanskrit text [Accents, Plain, Transliterated]:

स त्वं न॑ ऊर्जां पते र॒यिं रा॑स्व सु॒वीर्य॑म् । प्राव॑ नस्तो॒के तन॑ये स॒मत्स्वा ॥
स त्वं न ऊर्जां पते रयिं रास्व सुवीर्यम् । प्राव नस्तोके तनये समत्स्वा ॥
sa tvaṃ na ūrjām pate rayiṃ rāsva suvīryam | prāva nas toke tanaye samatsv ā ||

English translation:

“Do you, who are the lord of food, give us riches, with male offspring; defend us, with our sons andgrandsons.”

Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya

Defend us: Or, defend our wealth, consisting in sons and grandsons, and what has to be guarded inbattles
