Rig Veda 8.12.10
Sanskrit text [Accents, Plain, Transliterated]:
इ॒यं त॑ ऋ॒त्विया॑वती धी॒तिरे॑ति॒ नवी॑यसी । स॒प॒र्यन्ती॑ पुरुप्रि॒या मिमी॑त॒ इत् ॥
इयं त ऋत्वियावती धीतिरेति नवीयसी । सपर्यन्ती पुरुप्रिया मिमीत इत् ॥
iyaṃ ta ṛtviyāvatī dhītir eti navīyasī | saparyantī purupriyā mimīta it ||
English translation:
“This new praise, suited to the season, approaches, (Indra), to you; offering adoration and greatlydelighting (you), it verily proclaims the measure (of your merits).”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Suited to the season: or, connected withsacrifice, ṛtviyāvatī; it verily proclaims the measure: mimīta it: verily measures; indra gatān guṇānparicchinatti, it, the praise, discriminates the good properties attached to Indra, māhātmyam prakhyāpayati, itmakes known his greatness.
