Rig Veda 7.96.6
Sanskrit text [Accents, Plain, Transliterated]:
पी॒पि॒वांसं॒ सर॑स्वत॒: स्तनं॒ यो वि॒श्वद॑र्शतः । भ॒क्षी॒महि॑ प्र॒जामिष॑म् ॥
पीपिवांसं सरस्वतः स्तनं यो विश्वदर्शतः । भक्षीमहि प्रजामिषम् ॥
pīpivāṃsaṃ sarasvataḥ stanaṃ yo viśvadarśataḥ | bhakṣīmahi prajām iṣam ||
English translation:
“May we recline upon the protuberant breast of Sarasvati. Which is visible to all; that we may possessprogeny and food.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
May we recline: pīpivāṃsam sarasvatas stanam: bhakṣīmahi and stanam = means ofcloud, megha; so, the ṛca is rendered: may we obtain the distend and loud-thundering (of breast-like) cloud ofSarasvat. Which is visible to all; (may we obtain) progeny and food
