दा॒श॒रा॒ज्ञे परि॑यत्ताय वि॒श्वत॑: सु॒दास॑ इन्द्रावरुणावशिक्षतम् । श्वि॒त्यञ्चो॒ यत्र॒ नम॑सा कप॒र्दिनो॑ धि॒या धीव॑न्तो॒ अस॑पन्त॒ तृत्स॑वः ॥
दाशराज्ञे परियत्ताय विश्वतः सुदास इन्द्रावरुणावशिक्षतम् । श्वित्यञ्चो यत्र नमसा कपर्दिनो धिया धीवन्तो असपन्त तृत्सवः ॥
dāśarājñe pariyattāya viśvataḥ sudāsa indrāvaruṇāv aśikṣatam | śvityañco yatra namasā kapardino dhiyā dhīvanto asapanta tṛtsavaḥ ||
English translation:
“You gave vigour, Indra and Varuṇa, to Sudāsa when surrounded on all sides by the ten rājās (inthe country) where the pious Tṛtsus, walking in whiteness, and wearing braided hair, worshipped with oblationsand praise.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Walking in whiteness: śvit yañcaḥ kapardinas tṛtsavaḥ: the epithes are explained: svaityamnairmālyam gacchantaḥ, going in, or to, whiteness, or freedom from soil; and jaṭilaḥ, having braided hair. TheTṛtsus are the pupils of Vasiṣṭha, Vasiṣṭhaśiṣyāḥ etasanjñāḥ ṛtvijāḥ
