मी॒ळ्हुष्म॑तीव पृथि॒वी परा॑हता॒ मद॑न्त्येत्य॒स्मदा । ऋक्षो॒ न वो॑ मरुत॒: शिमी॑वाँ॒ अमो॑ दु॒ध्रो गौरि॑व भीम॒युः ॥
मीळ्हुष्मतीव पृथिवी पराहता मदन्त्येत्यस्मदा । ऋक्षो न वो मरुतः शिमीवाँ अमो दुध्रो गौरिव भीमयुः ॥
mīḻhuṣmatīva pṛthivī parāhatā madanty ety asmad ā | ṛkṣo na vo marutaḥ śimīvām̐ amo dudhro gaur iva bhīmayuḥ ||

English translation:

“As the (people of the) earth having a powerful lord have recourse to him when oppressed (by others), so comes (the host of the Maruts) exulting to us; your company, Maruts, active as fire, is as difficult to be resisted as a formidable ox.”

Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya

As the people of the earth: mīḷhuṣmatīva pṛthivī parāhatā = prabalasvāmikā pṛthivī parairanyair abhibhūtā, the earth having a powerful master when oppresse dby others; earth connotes its inhabitants, prajā, people or subjects, who, when oppressed, have recourse to their own ruler, ss yathā svasvāminam upadruta abhigacchati
