वृषा॒ वृष॑न्धिं॒ चतु॑रश्रि॒मस्य॑न्नु॒ग्रो बा॒हुभ्यां॒ नृत॑म॒: शची॑वान् । श्रि॒ये परु॑ष्णीमु॒षमा॑ण॒ ऊर्णां॒ यस्या॒: पर्वा॑णि स॒ख्याय॑ वि॒व्ये ॥
वृषा वृषन्धिं चतुरश्रिमस्यन्नुग्रो बाहुभ्यां नृतमः शचीवान् । श्रिये परुष्णीमुषमाण ऊर्णां यस्याः पर्वाणि सख्याय विव्ये ॥
vṛṣā vṛṣandhiṃ caturaśrim asyann ugro bāhubhyāṃ nṛtamaḥ śacīvān | śriye paruṣṇīm uṣamāṇa ūrṇāṃ yasyāḥ parvāṇi sakhyāya vivye ||
English translation:
“The showerer (of benefits), casting with his hands the quadrangular bolt that causes rain, fierce, the chief of leaders, the achiever of (glorious) acts, is desirous of the prosperity of the investing Paruṣṇi (river), whose (bordering) districts he has frequented through regard.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
The investing Paruṣṇi: ūrṇām paruṣṇīm = acchādikām parvavatīm nadīm, the river having joints or bends covering; whose bordering districts he has frequented: the text is, yasyāḥ parvāṇi sakhyāya vivye = liṭ, those joints through friendship he has approached; the explanation: yasyāḥ nadhyaḥ bhinnān deśān sakhikarmaṇe saṃvṛtavān, the separate districts of which river he has, for the sake of friendly acts,covered or concealed
