Rig Veda 3.55.6

श॒युः प॒रस्ता॒दध॒ नु द्वि॑मा॒ताब॑न्ध॒नश्च॑रति व॒त्स एक॑: । मि॒त्रस्य॒ ता वरु॑णस्य व्र॒तानि॑ म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥
शयुः परस्तादध नु द्विमाताबन्धनश्चरति वत्स एकः । मित्रस्य ता वरुणस्य व्रतानि महद्देवानामसुरत्वमेकम् ॥
śayuḥ parastād adha nu dvimātābandhanaś carati vatsa ekaḥ | mitrasya tā varuṇasya vratāni mahad devānām asuratvam ekam ||

English translation:

“The child of two mothers sleeps in the west, but (in the morning) the single infant proceeds unobstructed (through the sky); these are the functions of Mitra and Varuṇa; great and unequalled is the might of the gods.”

Mitra and Varuṇa: Mitra presiding over day; Varuṇa over the night, both being forms of one Agni
