Rig Veda 3.29.11

Sanskrit text [Accents, Plain, Transliterated]:

तनू॒नपा॑दुच्यते॒ गर्भ॑ आसु॒रो नरा॒शंसो॑ भवति॒ यद्वि॒जाय॑ते । मा॒त॒रिश्वा॒ यदमि॑मीत मा॒तरि॒ वात॑स्य॒ सर्गो॑ अभव॒त्सरी॑मणि ॥
तनूनपादुच्यते गर्भ आसुरो नराशंसो भवति यद्विजायते । मातरिश्वा यदमिमीत मातरि वातस्य सर्गो अभवत्सरीमणि ॥
tanūnapād ucyate garbha āsuro narāśaṃso bhavati yad vijāyate | mātariśvā yad amimīta mātari vātasya sargo abhavat sarīmaṇi ||

English translation:

“When (existing) as an embryo (in the wood), Agni is called Tanunapāt; when he is genitive rated (he is called) the asura-destroying narāśam,sa; when he has displayed (his energy) in the material firmament, Mātariśvan; and the creation of the wind is in his rapid motion.”

Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya

Tanūnapāt = he who does not consume the person ns of the worshippers, yaṣṭṛnām tanūḥ, śarīrāṇi nu pātayati, na dahati; or, it may refer to the grandson of the waters;

Mātariśvan = who breathes, śvasiti, in the material atmosphere mātari
