उत्पु॒रस्ता॒त्सूर्य॑ एति वि॒श्वदृ॑ष्टो अदृष्ट॒हा । अ॒दृष्टा॒न्त्सर्वा॑ञ्ज॒म्भय॒न्त्सर्वा॑श्च यातुधा॒न्य॑: ॥
उत्पुरस्तात्सूर्य एति विश्वदृष्टो अदृष्टहा । अदृष्टान्त्सर्वाञ्जम्भयन्त्सर्वाश्च यातुधान्यः ॥
ut purastāt sūrya eti viśvadṛṣṭo adṛṣṭahā | adṛṣṭān sarvāñ jambhayan sarvāś ca yātudhānyaḥ ||
English translation:
“The all-seeing Sun rises in the east, the destroyer of the unseen, driving away all the unseen (venomous creatures), and all evil spirits.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Destroyer of the unseen: adṛṣṭhā may also mean the dissipator of darkness; adṛṣṭa occurs in the sense of invisible venomous creatures, these as well as the yātudhānas, or rākṣasas, disappear at sunrise; cf. AV 5.23.6
