किं न॑ इन्द्र जिघांससि॒ भ्रात॑रो म॒रुत॒स्तव॑ । तेभि॑: कल्पस्व साधु॒या मा न॑: स॒मर॑णे वधीः ॥
किं न इन्द्र जिघांससि भ्रातरो मरुतस्तव । तेभिः कल्पस्व साधुया मा नः समरणे वधीः ॥
kiṃ na indra jighāṃsasi bhrātaro marutas tava | tebhiḥ kalpasva sādhuyā mā naḥ samaraṇe vadhīḥ ||
English translation:
“(Agstya): Why, Indra, do you purpose to slay us; the Maruts are your brothers; share with them (the offering) in peace; destroy us not in enmity.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
The Maruts are your brothers: being equally with Indra, the sons of Aditi; the allusion is to the affinity of function
