यद्वा॒जिनो॒ दाम॑ सं॒दान॒मर्व॑तो॒ या शी॑र्ष॒ण्या॑ रश॒ना रज्जु॑रस्य । यद्वा॑ घास्य॒ प्रभृ॑तमा॒स्ये॒३॒॑ तृणं॒ सर्वा॒ ता ते॒ अपि॑ दे॒वेष्व॑स्तु ॥
यद्वाजिनो दाम संदानमर्वतो या शीर्षण्या रशना रज्जुरस्य । यद्वा घास्य प्रभृतमास्ये तृणं सर्वा ता ते अपि देवेष्वस्तु ॥
yad vājino dāma saṃdānam arvato yā śīrṣaṇyā raśanā rajjur asya | yad vā ghāsya prabhṛtam āsye tṛṇaṃ sarvā tā te api deveṣv astu ||
English translation:
“May the halter and the heel-ropes of the fleet courser, and the head-ropes, the girths, and any other (part of the harness); and the grass that has been put into his mouth; may all these be with you, (horse), amongst the gods.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
The heel-ropes: dāma = a rope fastened round the horse's neck;
Sandāna = one that fastens his feet; any other part of the harness: śiṣaṇyā raśanā rajjuḥ: śirṣaṇyā = the rope that is fastened to the head, the reins;
