स॒म्मील्य॒ यद्भुव॑ना प॒र्यस॑र्पत॒ क्व॑ स्वित्ता॒त्या पि॒तरा॑ व आसतुः । अश॑पत॒ यः क॒रस्नं॑ व आद॒दे यः प्राब्र॑वी॒त्प्रो तस्मा॑ अब्रवीतन ॥
सम्मील्य यद्भुवना पर्यसर्पत क्व स्वित्तात्या पितरा व आसतुः । अशपत यः करस्नं व आददे यः प्राब्रवीत्प्रो तस्मा अब्रवीतन ॥
sammīlya yad bhuvanā paryasarpata kva svit tātyā pitarā va āsatuḥ | aśapata yaḥ karasnaṃ va ādade yaḥ prābravīt pro tasmā abravītana ||
English translation:
“As you glide along enveloping the regions (in clouds); where, then, are the parents (of the world)? curse him who arrests your arm; reply sternly to him who speaks disrespectfully (to you).”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
The parents of the world: the sun and the moon, the protectors of the world, which, during the rains, are hidden by the clouds; who speaks disrespectfully: yaḥ prābravīt pra tasmā abravītana: pra prefixed to brū = either to speak harshly or kindly, to censure or to praise
