त्वमा॑य॒सं प्रति॑ वर्तयो॒ गोर्दि॒वो अश्मा॑न॒मुप॑नीत॒मृभ्वा॑ । कुत्सा॑य॒ यत्र॑ पुरुहूत व॒न्वञ्छुष्ण॑मन॒न्तैः प॑रि॒यासि॑ व॒धैः ॥
त्वमायसं प्रति वर्तयो गोर्दिवो अश्मानमुपनीतमृभ्वा । कुत्साय यत्र पुरुहूत वन्वञ्छुष्णमनन्तैः परियासि वधैः ॥
tvam āyasam prati vartayo gor divo aśmānam upanītam ṛbhvā | kutsāya yatra puruhūta vanvañ chuṣṇam anantaiḥ pariyāsi vadhaiḥ ||
English translation:
“You did hurl your metal bolt upon the quick-moving (asura), the swift destroyer of foes, that was brought (to you) by Ṛbhu from heaven; when you, who are worshipped by many, striking Śuṣṇa, for the sake of Kutsa, did encompass him with numberless fatal (weapons).”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Brought by Ṛbhu from heaven: divo ānītam Ṛbhvā;
Ṛbhu = Tvaṣṭā, fabricator of Indra's thunderbolt. Śuṣṇa = drought; Indra removes drought for the benefit of his worshippers,by many drops of rain
