हिर॑ण्यहस्तमश्विना॒ ररा॑णा पु॒त्रं न॑रा वध्रिम॒त्या अ॑दत्तम् । त्रिधा॑ ह॒ श्याव॑मश्विना॒ विक॑स्त॒मुज्जी॒वस॑ ऐरयतं सुदानू ॥
हिरण्यहस्तमश्विना रराणा पुत्रं नरा वध्रिमत्या अदत्तम् । त्रिधा ह श्यावमश्विना विकस्तमुज्जीवस ऐरयतं सुदानू ॥
hiraṇyahastam aśvinā rarāṇā putraṃ narā vadhrimatyā adattam | tridhā ha śyāvam aśvinā vikastam uj jīvasa airayataṃ sudānū ||
English translation:
“Liberal Aśvins, leaders (of sacrifices), you gave to Vadhṛmati her son Hiraṇyahasta; bounteous Aśvins, you restored to life the triply-mutilated Śyāva.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Śyāva was cut into three pieces by the asuras; the pieces were reunited into one by the Aśvins
